Hilton has appointed Morgan Meredith as general manager of The Imperial Gold Coast, positioning the hotel for a shift to the LXR Hotels & Resorts brand in 2027.

New leadership set to guide LXR transformation

The chain said Meredith brings more than 15 years of luxury‑hospitality experience across Australia and Asia. Her role will involve coordinating with owners, staff and brand partners while the hotel readies for its LXR debut. The plan anticipates a major renovation that will reshape guest rooms, public spaces and service standards.

“I look forward to working with the owners and the hotel team to shape an experience that honours the property’s heritage while celebrating the essence of its remarkable location,” Meredith said in a statement. The comment reflects a balance between preserving historic elements and introducing the upscale LXR identity.

Fiona Pryde, cluster general manager for South East Queensland, added that Meredith’s background in complex renovation projects makes her “exceptionally well placed” to steer the transition. Pryde’s endorsement shows the strategic importance the group places on the Gold Coast venue.

Before returning to the Gold Coast, the GM led the Keraton at The Plaza in Jakarta through a challenging refurbishment, repositioning and reopening. That assignment tested her ability to manage large‑scale construction while maintaining service quality.

Earlier in her career, she held senior front‑office positions with Hilton Sydney and contributed to industry initiatives as a Young Tourism Leader for Tourism Queensland. Those roles gave her insight into both operational details and broader market trends.

Industry observers note that the Gold Coast market remains competitive, with several new luxury openings slated over the next few years. The upcoming LXR brand, known for bespoke experiences, aims to differentiate itself through design‑driven concepts and personalized service.

From a broader perspective, the appointment illustrates how hotel chains are leveraging seasoned managers to handle brand conversions. Successful transitions often hinge on aligning renovation timelines, staffing plans and marketing narratives, especially when a property shifts to a higher‑end label.
